There's a fascinating study right at the end of the book that you discuss about babies and the importance of how ingrained walking actually is in all of us. I think I was probably particularly interested as I have a young son who was only while being carried as I walked. Yes, its research was done in the 60s and 70s in London into the effect of movement on children on babies. A baby left to scream on it so the heartbeat will get up to about 200 beats a minute but if you pick it up and start rocking it from side to side, it will calm down a bit.
