"It takes work to change the system and a lot of people who have power are going to have to step down from their power," she said. "How do you tell somebody step down? ... They're not unless they are also invested in changing the system." She added that it's all well and good to say, oh, we want to make sure that this crew or this cast is half black or POC or queer by this year. But if you're not going to mentor us, then you're just setting people up for failure, she said.
