I've come across studies showing that emotional empathy is intact in autistic people. But I think it needs more research. It's a very difficult thing to study actually cognitive empathy may be a bit more straightforward in terms of how you measure it, how you test it. And now, affective empathy varies in accordance with our relationship to people. We're more likely to feel the pain of our offspring than of other kids on the playground.
