We are encouraged to reach out and partake of preferred indifference offered to us however, we are discouraged from letting our appetite for those externals run ahead. If you don't even take things when they are put before you, but pass them by, you will not only dine with the gods, but also share their rule. The principle in this lesson is quite clear. In epictetus words, you just made the mistake of letting your appetite run ahead.
