Manoni's Decolonization

Manoni argues that the colonized are caught in what he calls a dependency complex, which masks a pathological resentment towards the colonizer. He compares this relationship to the relationship between Prospero and Caliban and Shakespeare's The Tempest. Siser: Manoni not only was using his views to place the blame of colonials and back on the colonized, but was also trying to portray France as in some way moderate and virtuous for not engaging in more wholesale violence against the colonized people.
