The Vulgar Arts by Which Elections Are Too Many Carried
In 1787 and 1788, the founding fathers were writing about how elections are too often carried in America. They say that as each representative will be chosen by a greater number of citizens in the large than the small republic, it'll be more difficult for unworthy candidates to practice their vicious arts. In other words, when you broaden out the whole country and it becomes a continent wide country, it's much harder for one faction to get total control or try to elude the country.
