Why the FTC Wants to Do Away With Non-Compete Clauses
The Federal Trade Commission says it wants to do away with non-compete clauses. The FTC argues that the widespread practice of banning workers from getting a job with a competitor for a certain period of time puts an unfair burden on employees. Around 30 million Americans are affected, including everything from hairstylists and fast food workers to software engineers or truck drivers. For now, the rule change is a proposal which could face legal challenges.
