"I've had a beautiful relationship with my mother and pretty much every woman on down the line," she says. "The idea that this is some kind of trauma bonding or trauma driven thing, to me, that's just false." She adds: "If you have intense, really turned up empathy, well, what happens? You are also going to suffer"
