The Origins of Mithraism
Hall believes that even though the mythic traditions were wiped out by the Christianization of Rome, some of their ideas survived into the Freemasonic traditions. The lion symbolized the sacrifice of man to die and be reborn, saving humanity similar to the idea of Jesus Christos dying for the sins of humanity so that everybody can go to heaven.
