Sports is one of the only realms of human experience where you can see like genuinely hard earned excellence, while still finding it relatively easy to appreciate it without jealousy. So that's an important element of the spiritual life to me. And i'm grateful for finding it in sports. For some people it's just a release. Some people played the sport, so they have an interest in it because of that. But for me, i mean, the thing i loved about doing this book, you now, i'm someone that has a deep interest in history.
