The Fintel Alliance and the Fintel Streaming of Child Abuse
Westpac was a member of the Fintel Alliance, which looked into money laundering and movement of funds. One of their projects was the pay per view streaming of child abuse material online particularly with the corridor going up to the Philippines. The banks were not applying filters and typologies and transaction monitoring systems because they simply hadn't invested in that technology in their remittance business. It led to something like 75 charges for people as a result of this work that they were doing.
