The Life Cycle of Food Waste

Food waste is 500 to 600 pounds per household per year in the US, which actually works out to about two grand a year. When food ends up in the landfill, it degrades anaerobically. There's no oxygen in the landfill and you get methane, which is public enemy number one. I think if we were to make sort of three big buckets out of it, we could look at composting into animal feed where the food is reintroduced into the food system.
