The Movie Is a Pro-War Book
I think the social commentary is interesting in it. I don't even know if Verhoeven fully read it. He had some really good two of him. Apparently he refused to finish it. The book is basically about what would a society look like that was forced into a protracted period of fascism because that was the only way that you could rise to the occasion to fight this foe. It's kind of all intertwined and tangled. So I think we should just break down the subtext of the movie.
