There was a rapid shift in consumer spending all over the Western world into what they call big ticket items. These are big, chunky items of spending that most people set aside money every year in order to do. So if you're not doing that, the money you would have spent on that, you have for something else. And of course, what happened during the pandemic was you get this massive demand for real things - white goods. New car has been a great example. But there were also supply chain problems because people couldn't produce them factories.
