The Physicians Crusade Against Abortion
When the criminalization of abortion began in earnest, that was largely on account of the american medical association. They were trying to push other health care providers out as competition by just saying this is something that should not be happening. And it was such a successful effort that by the turn of the twentieth century, every state had a law or law's, criminalizing abortion.
