The author of the study says there's not a strong causal link between senesthesia and psychic experiences. But claims made by people claiming to be psychic or ora readers can be alternatively explained by proven science, he adds. The authors also point out that staring at a darker object may induce the perception of a bright halo around the object. This is due to a contrast amplification mechanism built into the human visual system which allows for an efficient detection of edges.
