The part of the brain that processes smell is closely linked to the parts that process emotions and memory. Science doesn't understand what the building blocks of smell are. If you change one single chemical bond, a scent can shift from sweet to rancid. Maybe at some point if we're able to fix these issues then maybe one day users will be able to stop, swipe and smell the roses.
