The Aestheticization of Politics
I've had lots of students over the years who come to me and their first concern is how i'm we goin to get a job, cause we live in a very cut throat economy. In those circumstances, you know, there's tremendous pressure on the part of these universities to provide efficiency minded degrees. And this might be contingently useful for students for a year or two, but it makes it very hard to get people to focus or think about the long term structural issues that we really need to improve things totally.
