The Rise and Fall of Cults in the 60s and 70s
In the 60s and 70s, many young Americans were forming communities in an attempt to follow a lifestyle that took them away from the mainstream society. Anything that was considered mainstream, like large religions or political organizations, all of that was being rejected. The connection between the decrease in mainstream religion correlating with the increase in cults shows me that humans just gravitate towards some sort of religion.
