The Importance of Recognizing Kawasaki Disease
The most important and challenging aspect of Kawasaki for the EDDOC is recognition. Put Kawasaki on your differential for any child with a fever for more than a couple of days. For me, the feature that jumps out the most is the beefy red lips. Lots of white cells with zero bacteria is not uncommonly seen in Kawasaki disease.
