What Is the Purpose of a Coroner's Inquest?
A coroner's inquest is a hearing in which witnesses and pathologists present the facts. The jury, after hearing those facts, will give a finding. Sometimes it will come down as being homicide; sometimes it will be suicide. It's like a grand jury when you are presenting a criminal case to get the true bill.
