In 19 ity 19 stein makes her perpetual vows as a carmelite. A few days later she receives notice that hassel has died. Stein requests, now in the 38, a transfer to a foreign carmel but the roots were closed. She transfers to car i monastery in echt, a small town in the netherlands. It is in these late years that etwer stein completes her text, the science of the cross. In this text, the night of saint john of the cross becomes a living reality, a living symbol.
