Is Attention All You Need?
A few years ago, there was this paper that made a big splash in artificial intelligence called attention is all you need. A very standard way of defining it is something like, and our attention is the selection of information or something for further processing. We have to be careful of thinking about those as somehow exemplifying attention. I think on the one hand, these systems are really interesting. And I think trying to understand selective information processing will be very illuminating.
