In the Jewish tradition, days were not counted from midnight to midnight as we do. This would mean that for most Gentiles, the evening of the seventh day would still be the same day and not the first of the next week. For Jewish Christians, on the other hand, the first day began with the sunset on the Sabbath and continued until the next sunset. The shift here is integrally connected to the growth of the Gentile Church," he says.
