As fathers, what impact did your friendship have on your own children? Let me speak to that first. Clarence was coming to our house for bible study and things when our kids were little. And so it, it was a very positive impact on them to realize that we can have friends, you know, who are different from us. When i had my kids, he became the grandfather. He actually wrote a letter of dedication to my twins that's in the book. That's huge. We began to model them after what we saw garry and caroline doing, also my parents as well.
Some corners of our culture will try to convince you that "diversity" is a dirty word. In reality, diversity is God's idea. He celebrates our differences—and He expects us to celebrate them as well. In this episode, Gary Chapman and Clarence Shuler reflect on how their unlikely friendship has taken root and thrived for more than five decades. They'll also share how Dads like you can nurture cross-cultural friendships in a way that shapes your children's lives moving forward.
