Are There Universal Principles?
I think there are universals. And I think that some of those universals trend toward what we would call love and justice and mercy. You know, compassion is a huge part of all of the religious traditions. The problem is this is in human experience. So it's limited by our own humanity. We don't know whether these are universal principles or universal human principles. But if you see enough recurrence across different traditions, you can say there's something there about compassion. I think it's safe to rely on that.
