Erard's clothes were held in such reverence because he didn't have any kids or anything, and he left everything to orphans. He represented kind of a a revenge or strike back of the lands, or the wealth through land as a source of endury. And even though he was a total miser in his life, he surprisingly left a very generous kind of package of things,. both to his descendants and to a bunch of public institutions.
