The Internet as a Tool of Coercion and Control

There is this constant theme to most of our political debates that is still very much grounded in that original conflict. The battle is not just about, if we allow the internet to become subject to central coercion in control and monitoring. It doesn't just mean that we've lost something incredibly valuable, a free internet. But it means something much more pernicious. And i think that is what it has become. There has never been a technology that has enabled any government, no matter how repressive, to track citizens and to collect data about people More powerfully than the internet is now, vesting states and other corporate power centrs to to assemble.
