The Impact of Drought on the Wheat Crop in Oklahoma
Three counties in Oklahoma's key wheat growing region are at the driest that they have been since record keeping began back in 1895. With less grass and other ground cover for those cows to eat, that means that ranchers are choosing or having to sell off parts or all of their cattle herds. The size of America's beef cow herd is at the lowest levels it has been since 1962. Consumers should expect to see higher beef prices at the grocery store starting probably in the next couple weeks.
