In the first volume, beer was a well regarded management consultant who written books. By the second book, there were PCs in homes and neoliberalism had come into being. The idea that you would ever work with Salvador Ande made him persona non grata. There's a sense that brain of the firm is a manual you could hand young managers to have them march into the boardroom with pitchforks and torches and overthrow the establishment.
