The American Academy of Pediatrics appears to be buying some time and perhaps even trying to hedge itself against future criticism. The legal refuge for the medical community is operating within the best practices established by those associations, societies, professional organizations. In this case, coming from Dr. Gordon Gaiut, a clinical epidemiologist at McMaster University, we are told he helped to develop the field of evidence-based medicine.
