Hegel, What's the Opening Idea of the Book?
Hegel's been understood by and large as a philosopher of synthesis, that people associate him often with this thesis antithesis, synthesis, this triad. For him, I think that's just a name for being reconciled with the intractability of contradiction. And so that idea is really important. It nicely coincides with the psychoanalytic idea. This is why I think the conjunction today of Hegel and Freud and Laconis makes complete sense.
