How to Choose the Right Migraine Prophylaxis for Your Headache
Sometimes patients with frequent and severe headaches require both abortive and preventative medicines. I offer prophylaxis if the patient is experiencing headache more than four times per month or if the headaches are interfering with daily life. The goal is usually to decrease symptoms by half if they stick with it for at least two to three months. neurologists consider it a success if the migraine frequency or the number of days of migraines is reduced by 50% in three months.
