Tali Sherritt: If confirmation bias is such a wicked trap and it can be, why does it exist? Why would our brains have evolved in a way to permit it? She says the devil's advocate was a great corrective for that bias. TaliSherritt: It makes sense that when you have a strong belief and you encounter it evidence that doesn't really fit that belief, most cases are wrong. But what it also means is that some of our beliefs could be false or very subjective.
