The Importance of Kanchasa in the Congolese Economy
The export market of the Congolese economy is completely dominated by mining. 95% of Congolese exports are mining exports, almost all from southern provinces. The east we're talking about tin, tantalum, gold, those are the big minerals coming out of the east. Most of those are artistently mined with a few exceptions here and there. Big multinational mining companies, Glencore, largest mining company in the world, some of the big Chinese mining companies. Those are the ones you find in the south of the country. In the east, it's mostly artisanal mining. There are a few industrial mining companies, but there are very few.
