The Importance of Introspection in Astronomy
SETI really prompted introspection for those scientists practicing it. It teaches us so much about our own, not only about our own world, but our perceptions of our world. Scientists have a hard time getting out of their own perspective, even when they try to. Even in like the Voyager golden record, when they were trying to be as inclusive and universal as possible, they still ended up reproducing norms about their world.
