Rob held the marathon world record for a couple of years in the early 1980s. But that was only recognised after the fact because New York had been setting a course which was slightly too short. As a result, Rob didn't get the appearance fees that he should have gotten for being the world champion. So what an act of grace to then take a dozen Indigenous runners to the New York Marathon every year. The very marathon that dudded Rob back in the early 80s.
