Festival Culture, the Transformational Arts Scene

I owe a lot to festival culture, the transformational arts scene, so to speak. What I wish those communities and that all communities would emphasize is perhaps becoming a little bit more like trees in the following sense. A rooted being, especially a tree takes its time. Likewise, we ought to take our time, and that means really thoroughly considering all of our choices. This is the practice of mindfulness. It's not glamorous and it's not swift. It is a slow and painstaking, but beautiful process which connects us to the elements of the earth upon which we depend for our sustenance.
