We're in a Pitiable Condition

I think we live at a time where nobody really wants to be pitied. We all want to be seen as above board and, you know, not an object of somebody's pity. But in fact, we are in a pitiable condition as unregenerate people. God has shown us mercy and has pitied us by mere fact that he of his pure grace elected to save us. And that doesn't stop when he calls us and claims us as his own children. He shows compassion and mercy to in a special way towards those whom he has called.
