How to Diagnose Multiple Myeloma With a Bone Marrow Biopsy
A bone marrow biopsy is important for the true diagnosis of someone having a myeloma. But does that mean every single patient with an abnormal M spike on their S-PEP automatically warns a bone marrowBiopsy? There are some clinical and pathological criteria that we use together to help determine whether or not we can assign a diagnosis, like smoldering myeloma or M-gust. And if you have evidence of one of these higher risk features, we know the data suggests that that's the time we need to do more workup and go ahead and do something like a bone marrow biopsies.
