Whether a Christmas Carol Is Christian or Secular

Many have wondered whether a christmas carol is christian or secular. Despite the outwards displays that it's more secular i think of Nietzsche who swiped at george elliot because he seemed to think one could displace god but keep morality. If we lose the ritual then we lose that which the ritual represents and so there is a very real value in keeping the ritual kept something of the religiosity. I somewhat lament the demise of religious ritual because it's that which the Ritual symbolizes it's the values that they carry that's that's the real thing.
