Until the early 20th century, New Zealanders just saw themselves as little Britons. We were unthinkingly allied with the Brits and weren't really even independent. There's this history of us being a kind of a Western country. It's because we are reliant on the rules-based system. If predatory powers get away with the aggressions, if there's a cascading series of identity, I'd say Russia, Ukraine in a few years from now or less... who knows?
