The Virtue of the Heart
When women are called upon to demonstrate physical courage or even to endure physical hardship it's a sign that something has gone deeply wrong. And so this is one way in which I think manly courage of the physical kind ends up being more essential because men displaying valor on the battlefield is kind of part of the normal course of life. It doesn't necessarily display social crack up. Women having to defend their home against the encroachments of hostile actors tells you thatsomething has gone really wrong.
