The book is about a woman whose husband has been having an affair with a fox. She accuses her husband of being a holdrer, and he takes her to the hut where she meets the fox lady. At the end of the story,. the wife has not seen the fox woman for a very, very long time. And this is what she says, i am learning to become full again. The forest is showing me how. I go there each day and i roll among the leaves on the damp, mossy floor. I burrow into root balls and talk to trees. And i am beginning to understand what they whisper to me in return.
