How to Calculate the Shipping Cost of an Item

eBay uses what's called a prediction model that helps us estimate the size of the package. We use either the actual weight of the item in our rate card or we use the volumetric weight, whichever is greater. Depending on the price of the item and where it is going to the buyer, we may pay taxes and duties at the time of checkout.
