The Suffering of the Environmental Crisis
Lament is corporate. The sorrow is shared. The melancholy is exchanged, he says. We don't want to imagine those things inside the kind of individualistic framework that all of us were raised with. Lament is a specific kind of response. You can't just flip a switch and decide you're going to start feeling the pain of suffering and then flip the switch back off when life requires a cheery disposition.
