An air fryer blows hot air at a very high speed all around the chicken breast. Cooking is basically transmitting energy from one thing to another, so heat. An air fryer is not a deep fat fryer and I get that because you're not dunking food into lots of oil. It's using the hot air that you just said,. But is that frying? I guess it's a little bit about semantics. cooking in hot oil or cooking in air, it's called convection cooking.
