What Are the Biggest Challenges for General Dentists?

General dentistry has to establish itself as a higher level of recognition within not only the dental field, but in the medical and professional health fields. I worry about the level of training at the dental pre-doc level that I am seeing from an academic perspective. A challenge will be to have a certifying board, or boards recognized in the absence of a dental specialty. The American Board of General Dentistry is a wonderful opportunity for general dentists to pursue a higherlevel of certification.
