Introduction
The first recorded labor strike in history occurred in ancient Egypt in 1156 BC. The workers blocked access to the Valley of Kings, barring citizens from bringing sacred food and drink to the dead. 700 years later, the Roman Empire saw the same dynamic when common laborers were hit with a law that burned them with unpayable debt by the patrician class.
