Labour's Anxiety Over the Culture War
How do Labour manage that without sort of just backing off and running away from it? I think in terms of Labour's anxiety it's partly because they think the choices are fight the culture war concede the culture war issue or avoid it. Given those choices they choose avoidance but avoidance won't work as you'll be underprepared whether or not to have an asylum system or uphold the refugee convention. The clash on gender between trans rights and women's rights is a real issue and what everybody thinks aboutthat's a real issue. It might not be the number one issue but it feels quite existential to lots of the people who are in it.
